Bornholm aims to become a C02 neutral society and exhibits future energy systems during the days of 7-11 September 2009. The Future Energy – Bornholm conference is divided into four elements:

  • A day of Perspective with political participation and experts to show the way to a future en-ergy system fulfilling the recommendations of UN Climate Panel and the benefits of using Bornholm as a model society for the introduction and the evaluation of future energy sys-tems.
  • A Showcase day, with visits to many of the ongoing activities on Bornholm, e.g. trials of a power grid with extremely high content of wind energy.
  • A 2 day holding of the Nordic Wind Power Conference 2009, gathering the highlights of Nordic wind power research into an International Symposium held bianually, this time in Bornholm. Previous NWPC conferences are held in:
    • 2000: Trondheim, Norway
    • 2004: Gothenburg, Sweden
    • 2006: Espoo, Finland
    • 2007: Roskilde, Denmark
  • A pre-conference day of tutorials, introductory and background information on Energy Sys-tems in relation to Wind Power production and distribution.

COP15, FUTURE CLIMATE, ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS

The Conference is positioned under of the Danish Engineering Society's project "Future Climate, Engineering Solutions" that in a broad range, of National and International activities on energy and climate, leads into the UN Climate Summit, COP15 in Copenhagen, December 2009."

OBJECTIVES, BORNHOLM AS A ROLE MODEL.

The objectives of the conference is to demonstrate the high level of technology in energy systems with very high content of sustainable energy in that is currently in place in Bornholm and to con-sider the potential for Bornholm to be a full scale laboratory for studies of energy systems for a fu-ture fossil free energy supply. The conference combines a public and political perspective day with participation of technical excellence of expert in the field, further contributing the technical society of the Nordic Wind Power Conference taking place in conjunction with the conference. This way the public and politicians can meet the experts in the field and use the summit to understand the latest development and perspectives of technology to provide acceptable solutions to the future fossil free energy supply challenge.

A CONFERENCE OF GREAT IMPORTANCE

The Conference is positioned under of the Danish Engineering Society's project "Future Climate, Engineering Solutions" that in a broad range of National and International activities on energy and climate leads into the UN Climate Summit, COP15 in Copenhagen, December 2009."

CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES IN SUSTAINABLE ENERGY SYSTEMS.

It is a challenge for the industry, the research institutions and universities to further new ideas, tech-nologies and viable solutions, which provides the basis that in many countries must allow for the necessary paramount changes within reasonable expense. However the situation also provides op-portunities in a market for new technology, processes and equipment that must be developed and employed. The success of the conference is found in the ability to gather and connect the partners necessary to pave the way for and provide innovation in the industry, research institutions and uni-versities from all over the World.

10-11 September 2009, Nordic Wind Power Conference – NWPC’2009

Power System Integration and Electrical Systems of Wind Turbines and Wind Farms

Scope of Conference

This fifth Nordic Wind Power Conference will focus on power system integration and elec-trical systems of wind turbines and wind farms. Invited speakers, oral presentation of papers and poster sessions will ensure this to be a valuable event for professionals and high-level students wanting to strengthen their knowledge on wind power integration and electrical systems. NWPC presents the newest research results related to technical electrical aspects of wind power, spanning from power system integration to electrical design and control of wind turbines. This year the conference is held in conjunction with the IDA conference Fu-ture Energy – Bornholm which will take place in the same location from 7 to 11 September 2009. IDA is the Danish Society of Engineers. The conferences will be affiliated the climate conference COP15 which is held in December 2009 in Copenhagen.
